Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Open wounds, Stroke recovery, Burn mending, Skin graft repair, Poor circulation, Diabetic Neuropathies, Speed healing of fractures, Regenerate blood vessel growth, certain types of Macular degeneration, Necrotizing skin infection; All of these conditions can be treated, with a great deal of success, with Hyperbaric Oxygen. Hyperbaric "Hyper" means "high" and "baric" refers to pressure. Thus, "hyperbaric" means increased pressure. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) refers to intermittent treatment of the entire body with oxygen at greater than normal atmospheric pressures. Simply put, it is a treatment in which a patient is placed in a pressurized chamber as 100% oxygen is absorbed into the body.

Why is this increased oxygen so important? Every inch of your body requires oxygen to function, every organ especially your brain, heart, and lungs; your skin; your muscles, tendons and ligaments. Without proper oxygen amounts, these valuable organs, systems, and structures would deteriorate and die.

Your body relies on your blood to supply this much needed oxygen to all of your oxygen dependent parts . But what if something: an accident, a blockage, or a medical condition restricted or prevented adequate blood flow to one or more of these parts? How is the oxygen supposed to reach its destination and prevent damage? Through a Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber, that s how.

The pressurized chamber forces oxygen into every cell in the body, even if sufficient blood flow isn t present. By increasing circulation over a period of time, your body will eventually be able to once again supply its own oxygen to the once deprived part.

So I need more oxygen! Why not just grab one of those masks, or belly up to one of those swank Oxygen Bars I ve heard about on TV?

When breathing in oxygen (even 100% pure oxygen) through a mask or a nose cannual, you are still relying on the blood to transport the oxygen. If you have a carotid (the main artery from the heart to the brain) that is caked with plaque and/or calcium, blood flow is being restricted. No matter how many times you inhale that oxygen, no extra oxygen is reaching your brain. However, if oxygen is being delivered under pressure, it doesn t matter how caked up the carotid is, you will be getting very high, very safe levels of oxygen to that knowledge center we call a brain!
